File: aabwu_01.txtSUBJECT: BOTULISM ANTITOXIN FACT SHEET ON BOTULISM ANTITOXIN - Trivalent Botulinal Anti-Toxin - There are in existence two immunizations/treatments for BOTULISM - The Army, Bio Systems Division, R&D Command , has 200 units of a human immuno globulin which is used as a vaccine and treatment for botulism - The vaccine is a single dose regiment which provides immunity immediately but does not last a lifetime. -This globulin is also used in the treatment of active cases - CDC has several hundred units of a horse immuno globulin which is identical to the above described vaccine. The number is being verified along with availability. - The Air Force has no stocks of either units. It is doubtful if the Army units will be available because of Army use, if needed. We are actively 'investigating the availability of the units at CDC. legal 9; BOT.TOX Edwards/SGHR/[(B)(2)]/9 Aug 90
