SUBJECT:  354 TFW NUCLEAR, BIOLOGICAL AND CHEMICAL SURVIVABILITY BRANCH INFORMATION LETTER.


FROM: 354 CSE/NBCS , 21 October 1990
     SUBJECT: Inspection of M258A1 Decontamination Kits
     TO: Distribution "B" 
     
     1. Due to extreme local temperatures, M258A1 decon kits require
     inspection immediately and reinspection monthly for swollen number
     (2) packets, leaking packets, or packets that have burst. A
     swollen (2) packet is one where the glass ampules inside cannot be
     felt by the fingers holding the packet and applying alight To
     moderate pressure Once inspected ensure the M258A1 decon kits
     are kept out of direct sunlight. NBCS recommend your unit set
     aside a time period in the first week of each month to inspect
     these kits .
     
     2. Unit commanders and staff agency chiefs must ensure these
     in-inspections are completed. Not accomplishing these inspections
     could result in personal injury from a lack of decontamination
     following  ing exposure To liquid chemical agent.
     
     3. Return all damaged kits to supply for replacement.
     
     4. If there are any questions, contact NBCS [(B)(2)]
