PROFESSIONAL INTELLIGENCE: Situations of importance included contract meals and the potential for foodborne illness posed by these meals. Early in the deployment, foodborne illness at 2 other locations in country were related to contract meals from local restaurants and to meals cooked by locals in host-national feeding facilities. Medical input should be sought before contracts for meals are awarded to restaurants. Unusual Diseases - none diagnosed. Primary reason sought medical care. Early on, heat casualties were of major importance. As the weather cooled, respiratory illness and other "miscellaneous" problems took on greater significance.
