File: 970207_aadci_073.txtODS MEDICAL LESSONS LEARNED C3I and TRAINING CATEGORIES C3I ISSUE NO. 6 Bed Designations for Contingency Hospitals (SGHR ITEM NO. 138) DISCUSSION: Designating beds in the 12 patient categories based on facility, equipment, and staffing, caused confusion about the CONHOSPs ability to care for patients in burn, neurosurgery, psychiatric, urologic, etc., categories. Commanders could designate beds based on the standard manning document and then adjust the designations based on actual staffing, materiel status, etc., over course of the deployment. RECOMMENDATIONS: Determine bed designations for each CONHOSP based on facility differences. , ACTIONS REQUIRED: USAFE to determine and identify appropriate bed designations for CONHOSPs. USAFE is also planning a review of the manpower detail for CONHOSP UTCs. ACTIONS COMPLETED: USAFE is reviewing manpower requirements for CONHOSPs. USAFE is reviewing bed designations for CONHOSPs. Current bed designations were developed by MUHIO based on standard manpower detail and supplies-and equipment in CONHOSP materiel packages. Plans for a CONHOSP manpower UTC refinement meeting are being determined. STATUS: OPEN.
