   	 (U) 1740- Team arrives at KKMC and is billeted for the evening. Team
    Chief calls Red Horse POC. He has no knowledge of mission. Major Smiley,
    Riyhad Red Horse calls KK~C and provides transportation instructions. From
    the POC we learned we are to link up with British Ministry (MOD) Engineering,
    Maj Schuler. 
    
    (U) 3 Mar 91
    
    	(U) 0700 - CH-47 operations personnel have no knowledge of mission planned
    by Red Horse. We are told to standby until 1200, 1400, then 1445 and finally
    we were told the mission was postponed until 0700, on 4 Mar 91.
    
    (U) 4 Mar 91
    
    	0720- Alpha, Bravo, and Red Worse teams are ready for deployment,
    but there is no aircraft. (Alpha team is an E0D team tasked to Talil AB,
    Iraq. It consists of six EOD technicians with similar equipment. Alpha team
    is from Al Karj. Bravo team is an EOD team from Riyadh.
    
    	(U) 0930- Two CH-47s finally land and we on load.
    
    	      1220- Arrived at Jalibah AB, Iraq. Contacted Army Engineers working
    in the area and combat control team (CCT) personnel. Three EOD personnel
    dispatched to find a beddown area. army personnel could not provide
    security since they were leaving the area.
    
    		- Alpha team departs to Talil AS. Iraq by HMMV.
    
    	(U) - EOD Team established a base camp with the three man CCT team.
    
    	(U) - Team Chief gives a safety/security briefing  and divides
    personnel into a two and a three person team. Only or vehicle is available.
    
    	(U) - Team recons runway and taxiways. Many US Army vehicles were
    convoying thru the base across the runway.
    
    		- CCT briefs EOD on their initial recon results and the MOS
    requirements 4750 feet must be available for C-130 operations.
    
    	(U) - Team reports results of reconnaissance as follows:
    
            		(U) * Four major C8U grids crossing the runway
    		               (see photos 1& 2)
    
    	- There was sufficient hard surface for the required MOS, but
    there were numerous munition, to be cleared. (i.e.., H8376s, SG357s, H-42s,
    and a British l000 lb GP bomb with the remains of the 960 tail fuze
    installed). (see photo 3 & 4)
    
    	(U) -  Estimated tine of completion was given as 1800 hours.


        
    		The Iraqi runaway had been repaired earlier during the war by
    Iraqi RRR team. Their repairs appeared to be effective.
    
    	- A plan of attack was developed, briefed and an additional
    safety briefing was given. The majority of the munitions were on the infield
    and sides of the taxiways.
