            MEMORANDUM FOR SEE DISTRIBUTION

            SUBJECT: 'Reconnaissance of Northeri Portion of E=-tsterr. Area
            Province



            L. General. Commander, Eastern A-ea Province has approved a
            request to conduct a reconnaissance of t@e area north of EPAC's
            FEBA, south of the screening forces, from the coast to the
            western EPAC boundary. The dates approved are 23 to 30 Oct 1990.

            2. Concept. The purpose of the r-econ will be to closely L-xam,'-ne
            possible enemy avenues of approach into Eastern Area Province.
            Emphasis will be placed on traf4icability for heavy wheeled
            vehicles.


            3. Respons4bilities.

                a.   Cdr, @-d Airborne Division. Provide one fuel HEMMT, with
            diesel, with 2 drivers/-Fuel handlers.

                b.   Odr, 20"h Engineer Brigade.

                     (1) Provide teams of approximately twenty personnel
            capable  of testing road and cross country tra*ficability.
            Equipment will include HEMMT wrecker, 5 ton, water trailer. two
            4-seat HMMWV'S, maps and items needed to conduct required
            traf@i-cablity tests.

                     (2) Provide class 1, to .nclude water, and other life
            support  for entire team.

                C.   Cdr 33th Signal. Provide communications team with HMMMV,
            TACSAT,  HF, And FM capability.

                d.   Cdr, COSCOM. Provide 2 Medics.

                e.   ACofS. G2.


                     (1) Provide ouidance as to enemy avenues a-F approach.
