         SUBJECT: Dragon Brigade (FWD) Training Guidance for 2d Quarter, PY 91


             b. MISSION: Dragon Britad*'a mission in to provide command and
         control for rear battle and designated units for the XVIII Airborne Corps
         to fight anywhere with no notice and win.

             a. METL:

                 (10 Command and oontrol/command, control and communications for
         designated units.

                 (2) Synchronize the terrain management, movement control,
         austainment and security in the airboad as it expands to a lodgement.

                 (3) Responsible for the Corps Rear Operation and the
         establishment of the Corps Rear Command Post.
                 (4) Reconstitute to provide command and control for special
         missions an directed by the Commanding General.

                 t5) Provide Garrison administrative functions.

                 (6) Provide for the deployment (within 18 hours), employment,
         sugtainment, and redeployment of the Assault. TAC, gain and Rear Command
         Post of the XVIII Airborne Corps.

                 (7) Provides low to medium altitude air defense protection for
         XVIII Airborne Corps and its attachments.

             d. MAINTENANCE: The desert environment places a severe strain on
         weapons, equipment and vehicles. Spare parts, maintenance support and
         replacements are things that we cannot count on. we must count on command
         emphasis to *naure that we can fight and win when called upon. Of
         particular concern is NBC protective equipment and power generation
         equipment. We must also t&k* care to preserve equipment I*axed or given
         to us to accomplish our mission, particularly vehicles. Each unit and
         section must adhere to maintenance schedules for assigned Japanese
         vehiolex and establish a strong operator maintenance xcli*dule.

         supplies and housekeeping supplies. Along with the TOR and TDA Items that
         we brought with us, we must maintain strict accountability on all items

             t. TRAINING: Every day in Saudi Arabia should be used to improve our
         ability to support the Command and Control mission of the Corps
         Headquarters. Dragon Brigade Headquarters and the 139th RAOC. must
