            SUBJECT: Commander's Narrative

18th FA Bdo canducted'communication, NBC, and vehicle training today.
Units also performed scheduled services and equipment maintenance. 8/3-27
.returned to the Saudi National Guard Compound to assume the ASP guard
            mission an 251200 SEP 90.

The 3-8 FA.and 1-39 FA continued off-loading of equipment from the
Cape Kay, and prepared for arrival of main bodies an 25 September 1990..

The 75th and 212th FA Bde Commanders received the Corps Artillery
aff Update Brief and a familiarization tour of the area to include
we CTOC. Bde Commanders and their staffs will conduct recons of their
            AO"@ orf 26 SEP 90.

Corps Artillery units still suffer from inadequate artillery ranges in
the vicinity of the three FA Brigade assembly areas. The Corps Artillery
Staff is working closely with Corps 63-Tng to arrive at a solution to this
critical issue. There are several technical artillery concerns faced by
the artillery community in this theater -- many of which that can only be
resolved by live fire training. I must have live fire training
opportunities in early October. I am deploying a battalion (3-8 FA) this
week to AA Hinesville, and they still do not have two sets of DBDUS.
Corps must help me resolve this problem even if troops in the Dhahran area
go short for the time being.

Personnel strength as crF 2409OOZSEP 90:
