          PROCEDURAL STEPS:

          1. ASSIST ANY INJURED PERSONNEL.

                                     WARNING

The number of personnel who take part in the vehicle recovery
should be kept to an absolute minimum. They are to be
dressed in protective coveralls, glovest rubberized boots,
and they are to also wear the M25 or M17A2 protective mask
with M13A2 filter element and the accompanying head covers
(i.e.@ Mission Oriented Protective Posture (MOPP) Level 4).
The coverall pant legs are to be worn over the rubber boots
and scaled with tape at the ankles. Likewise, the sleeves
are to be slipped over the gloves and taped. The edges of
the hood are to be draped over the coveralls and taped to
them and the place where it contacts the respirator. Also,
any remaining openings are to be sealed with tape.

                                     WARNING

Recover tank to rear decontamination area, or injury to
personnel and damage to equipment may result from exposure to
Depleted Uranium (DU) contamination. If a decontamination
area has not been designated, recover to a position downwind
of rear support with a safety perimeter of at least 1,200 ft
surrounding vehicle. Refer to TB 9-1300-278 for radiation
          detection and decontamination procedures.

          2. Mark the area for latter radiological survey and possible
decontamination. Use NBC contamination marking kit; if not
available, refer to FM 3-3 for instructions on fabricating
          uniform marking signs.

          3. Recover tank to rear decontamination area.

          4. Perform radiological survey and any required decontam-
ination of personnel, tank and recovery vehicle following
          procedures in TB 9-1300-278.

n mission is complete, or
as soon as practical, repair the equipment/system using
          applicable maintenance procedures.
