      A. OFFICER/WARRANT OFFICER- RETIMMNTS* The following guidance has
      been received from HQDA. Procedures fdr Officer and *arrant Officer
      retirements remain unchanged. A change to an approved retirement date
      cannot be approved locally. Individual requests will be processed
      through channels to HQDA for approval/disapproval action. AR 635-100,,
      paragraph 4-12, gives the procedures for withdrawal of an application
      for retirement or a change in the retirement date.
      Be Officers who have a mandatory retirement or release date will not.,
      be allowed to remain past those dates. Those officers who have been
      recalled from Transition Leave will be retired on their scheduled date
      unless a recluest is processed and approved by HQDA.

      C. MAILING ADDRESS FOR DEPLOYED SOLDIERS.

          to All soldiers deployed on operation Desert Shield may have their
      personal mail forwarded through the supporting rear detachment
      mailroom. Soldiers not residing in barracks should submit a change
      of address card to the local postmaster to direct the forwarding of
      mail through their assigned unit.

          2. Current guidance direots that only first-class letter mail not
      exceeding twelve ounces will be forwarded through the supporting APO.
      No newspapers magazines or parcels will be forwarded* Additionallys
      no religious materials tobacco# alcohol or pornography (to include
      Itsoft porn") will be forwarded* Authorization for parcels is expected
      when transportation and postal assets become avai @ la.
