G. OPTOMETRY SUPPORT,
1. Units whose requests for Soldiers$ eyeglasses have been
processed need to have a representative check with Division Optometry
at THC St proximity of CAAFO at 1630 daily to pick up inserts and
eyeglasses as they arrive at Fort Campbell.
2. Ballistic Laser Protective Spectacles (BLPS), BLPS will be
issued to units as soon as possible in accordance with the approved
distribution plan, Reco=end BPLS be issued only to soldiers who
either do not require optical inserts or already have acquired their
special BPLS,optical inserts. The BPLB inserts are not the same items
as the optical inserts for the protective masks and are not
interchangeable. Units will carry all unissued BPLs and inserts on the
deployment for subsequent issue in theater.
H. THEATER EVACUATION POLICY. Current verbal guidance from xviir Abn
corps is a zero day evacuation policy* Those soldiers that cannot be
returned to duty within twenty-four hours will be evacuated to Rhein
Main# FRG* This policy is subject to change upon arrival of additional
medical capabilities in theater.
I. GUIDELINES FOR EXTENSION OF ENLIS@NT.
1. The following extension guidelines are established for desert
shield.
(a) Kid-career and career soldiers with less than 60 days to
ETS must extend for 6 months or sign a DCSS*
(b) First term soldiers with less than 60 days to ETS may
extend for 90 days.
(a) soldiers that recaosted early release must request
withdrawal on DA Form 4187 through command channels for approval.
Approved 4187 will be forwarded-to the transition point in BLDG 2603
for revocation of early release orders. The soldiers ETS will revert
to original ETS. if original ETS is less than 60 days they must extend
for not more than 90 days to be deployment eligible,

at the Fort Campbell Welcome Center to assist family im@ers and family

K. FAMILY ASSISTANCE BOOKS* 10,,OOO handbooks are being sent to
units via distribution channels for family support group use*
