             StfBJECT: Graves Registration for Chemically Contaminated Remains@."'


             1. Purpose. Provide information on    the handling of chemically'
             contaminated remains.


             2.  Facts.

                 a.  The USAF will operate the main collection point at
             Dhahran and sub-collection points at the King Fahd International
             Airport and Riyadh. Ist C69COM (54th OM Co) and USMC will also'
             operate collection points.

                 b.  Contaminated remains will be collected at centralized
             locations and allowed to weather until assets and time are
             available to conduct decontamination.


                 C. Only surface decontamination will be attempted and     any
             contaminants that have entered through inhalation prior to   death
             and through absorption will continue to be a hazard for those   who
             handle them.

                 d. ARCE&VT has located only  one temporary internment site  for
             contaminated remains located in  Jeddah.

                 e. The primary focus of graves registration will be
             segregation of contaminated remains and processing of those which
             pose no hazard. Decontamination will only occur as time.
             personnel, and supplies are available.
