           MEMORANDUM FOR    Commander, VII Corps. ATTN: ACE

           SUBJECT: Dust    Pallative on VII Corps Airfields


           1.    Request that all major subordinate oow"nds be Informed of
           the primary objective of the nontrafficabla dust pallatives
           currently being applied to &II VII Corps airfields by the 7tb
           Engineer. Brigade..

           2. A dust pallative      is to prevent *oil particles from becoming
           airborne.     Although the dust pallatlve provides the necessary
           resin tance at'@i net air impingement, it in totally unsuitable so
           wearih IA curfaco.

           3.    The effectiveness of this dust pallative treatment is
           destroyed rapidly by vehicular traffic and any remaining Auat
           pallative is quickly stripped from the ground surface.
           4. A contract has boon lot by MEAPO to Jay a trattioable dust
           pallative for VII Corps, Until the contractor has completed thin
           surface treatment, all vehicular traffic must stay off of the
           dust pallative.
