    MEMORANDUM FOR SEE DISTRIBUTION


    SUBJECT. Malaria Chemoprophylaxis

    1. 'Malaria chemoprophylaxi5 will become  necessary if the Division moves
    into a malaria endemic area.

    2. Each @ompany/troop/battery commander   must be prepared to  ensure.@
    that.upon the direction of the Division@Surgeon, every soldier in th"ex@@.
    command begins and follows the anti-malarial chemoprophylaxis regimen.-@
    The regi@en 6on'sists of each soldier' a  ,i one chloroquine phosphate
    tabl@t on the same day each week, beginning  one week prior to entering   a
    malaria endemic area.  After leaving the area,ea@h soldier., should begin'
    follow-up chemoprophylaxis which  consists of taking the chl'oroqLtine/
    primaqltine phosphate tablet each week for eight weeks.

                         st ensure a thre       week supply of anti-malarial
    3. 'Ei@ -commander mu                  e'--,
    tablets is on hand for their unit. Malaria chemoprophylavis may be
    acquired through the unii's respective me'dical support company-

    4. The -Follow-Lip chemoprophylaxis is on order and will be retained at
    the Division M"edical Supply Office"until 'further notice.

    5. POC is ILT Schleich, Division SLirgeon's Off ice, 9-7662-144.
