Ri 5@rs involved in Dammam Paint Operation

              1. Just talked with Mr. Shirley., Safety Manager, AMC, US Ai-my
Support Spt, SWA, about the paint operation in Dammam. Two
significant hazards exist relative to Our soldiers,

                   a. Breati-iab.Le air---requires Grade D air. Current
compressors do not supply Gride D Aj.r i,)Oi- clr.) they have- Grade D
type filter systems. Also compressors have no carbon monoxide or
              @iic.ih tcfnperitlire alarms.

                   b. Fire--elL-c:trical fixtures in tent are not explosive
proof. -Fents, overtime '. accumulate a combustible coating from
the over5pray. This coupled with fire potential from electrical
systems make fii-L- x possible, catastrophic event,

              2. Apparently, 22 SUPCOM has accepted the risk to tliei!- soldiers
to do the painting in ]Ltbail.

              3. Since v4L- are going to do the painting in Dammam, we either
need to accept the risi, or not paint until safe equipment can be
provided by AMC/22SUPCOM. Concern is that) from an operational
perspective, the painting may not be accomplished before loading.

Z[. These same (-:(:incli@ioris existed during the painting op)er@itioi-i
before the war and have not improved significantly. This
                                                                      I
operation does not meet the no risl@./low r,isl-: gltidaricc-- fr-C)m the
              CG.

              5. Not one more life!
