          Grant, Red Cross Sr. representative about ISG Nieves' emergency.
          Mr. Grant checked his files but there was not a RED CROSS verifi-
          cation message concerning this case. SGT McClain provided Mr.
          Grant with Cpt Johnson's telephone number to find out more de-
          t,iils.


          -01'@356 FEB 91/ 61 received a call from CPT Howell, ARCENT GI (9-
          7806-202/629) requesting information on whether or not ISS Nieves
          was notified. CPT Howell requested a status report on the action
          by 020600 Feb 91 for him to report to FORSCOM.

          -021110 JAN 91/ 61 called RED CROSS to verify notification. RED
          CROSS have not received any message on ISG Nieves. CPT Stinson
          called SSG Fergusson, 197th IN Sde, to verify if ISS was notified
          thrl[ other channels but Bde personnel was unaware if the notifi-
          cation tool, place.

          -02011'@ FEB 91/ Dep 61 called Maj Youngbluth, FSGA, to request
          his assistance in contacting RED CROSS at FBGA and to ask for a
          verification message on the emergency.

          -020200 FEB 91/ Dep 61 received from FSGA the RED CROSS message
          numbers oh folir'previous attempts to verify ISG Nieves' emergency
1310, AND N0031714). Message% did not
          arrive in the 24th ID (M) area. CPT Giazman passed this informa-
          tion to CPT Sayer, 197th IN, and RED CROSS.

          -020400 FEB 91/ CPT Bayer, Asst S-3, 197th Spt Bn, called to
          report that he could not find ISS Nieves. 197th Spt Bn is moving
          into their new AA and there is a possibility that ISG Nieves is
          in the convoy. CPT Bayer will keep calling until he can deter-
          mine location and complete notification.

          -020555 FEB 91/ CPT Bayer still trying to locate lS6 Nieves.

          -020600 FEB 91/ CPT GLIZman called LTC White at ARCENT GI and
          reported ISG Nieves' notification status.
