b. Ambulances, medical aircraft, and ground vehicles used exclusively for
patient evacuation or transportation of medical personnel and supplies will display
the Geneva Red Cross. Surface and aerial ambulances will only be used for
transportation of patients, transportation of AMEDD personnel, transportation of
medical supplies and equipment, and instruction of personnel required to operate the
ambulances. All medical facilities and vehicles will maintain blackout during the
hours of darkness or as directed by the tactical commander.
7. ENEMY PRISO)FERS OF WAR (EPW'S)
a. EPW casualties will be treated and/or evacuated after requirements to US and
allied casualties have been.gatisfied. Where possible, EPW'G will be treated in
normal medical channels, but segregated from US allied patients.
b. Medical facilities will treat EPW'G only under guard of capturing unit, or
military police.
c. Where possible, EPW casualties will be separated from US and allied
casualties during treatment/evacuation.
d. Reporting of EPW Casualties. Receipt of EPW casualties will be reported
immediately through unit SI and S2 channels. The following minimum information will
be reported:
(1) Number of EPW'G received.
(2) Rank and unit Identification, if known.
(3) Medical personnel will inform intelligence units immediately of receipt
of wounded EPW's as specified by the G2.
(a) Any documents or material found on enemy wounded will be tagged with an
AFZP Form 107, and placed in intelligence 'channels.
(b) EPW medical personnel and captured enemy supplies may be used to treat
EPW casualties at the discretion of the medical commander.
8. PREVENTIVE MEDICINE.
a. The Division Surgeon supervises the Command Preventive Medicine Program by
ommends
corrective measures, and assists in training personnel (e.g., unit field sanitation
teamg) in disease prevention programs, to include monitoring the immunization
program; recommends proper types of (chemicals for water purification) pesticides,
repellents; and other supplies and equipment necessary to preserve health.
b. Preventive medicine measures as prescribed in FM 21-10, AR 40-5, and
TM 5-700 will be followed when the tactical situation permits.
