               MEMORANDUM FOR Commander, 82d Airborne Division, ATTN: 64

               Subject: MTO&E Shortages/Contact Trucks


               1. The 307th Engineer Battalion/618th Engineer Company is
               very limited in its capability to provide the proper
               maintenance support required because of it's shortage of
               contact trucks. Request your assistance in L;xpediting the
               delivery of the authorized contact trucks.

               2. Currently, the 307th Engineer Battalion is short two (2)
               contact trucks, LINO T10138. The document # is 70205075, no
               estimate on delivery date.

               3. Currently, the 618th Engineer Company is sh        one (1)
               contact truck, LIN# T10138. The document # is @! 1001, no
               estimate an delivery date.

               4. Based on a message from Mr. Mike Healea, AMSMC-MMN-N,
               plans are to fill new unit activations first, then shortages
               with one of 3 different types based on unit mission. We
               request that we be filled with the engineer version, LIN
               S30982, NSN 4940-01-209-8824, for both the 307th Engineer
               Battalion and the 6IE3th Engineer Company.

               5. The early delivery will assist this unit in conducting on
               site maintenance of it's equipment. The engineers and their
               equipment are spread over the entire division sector, making
               it extremely difficult to maintain equipment without these
               contact trucks. Any assistance you provide in expediting the
               delivery would be greatly appreciated.
