  1. +51 OPERATIONS SUMMARY.
     A. +&) CORPS OVERVIEW:
          41)       VII CORPS MAINTAINS SCREEN ALONG DML AND
1 OUTPOSTS ON HIGHWAY 8; CONTROLS THE CENTCOM DIRECTED DEMARCATION
  LINE AND IRAQI MILITARY AND CIVILIAN MOVEMENT IN CONTROLLED
  AREAS; PROVIDES HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE; CONTINUES EQUIPMENT
  RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND DESTRUCTION MISSIONS; CONTINUES
  DEVELOPMENT OF RAA'S; PROVIDES ESCORT ASSISTANCE TO ICRC TEAM IN
  SECTOR; AND CONDUCTS COMBINED ARMS LIVE FIRE TRAINING.
  CORPS RETAINS THE CAPABILITY FORWARD TO CONDUCT OFFENSIVE
  OPERATIONS. MOVEMENT OF CIVILIANS INTO CORPS SECTOR ACROSS THE
  DEMARCATION LINE HAS BEGUN TO DECLINE. CORPS CONTINUES TO
  RECEIVE REPORTS OF ALLESED IRAQI MILITARY COMMITTING ATROCITIES
  AGAINST THE LOCAL POPULATION IN THE LOWER EUPHRATES REGION.
  AERIAL SEARCH AND GROUND RECOVERY OPERATIONS OF FRIENDLY
  EQUIPMENT CONTINUES SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE IDENTIFICATION AND
  DESTRUCTION OF ENEMY MATERIAL IN VII CORPS SECTOR. CORPS HAS
  DESTROYED (SINCE THE END OF THE GROUND WAR) 2187 COMBAT VEHICLES,
  2571 TACTICAL VEHICLES, 2840 WEAPONS, 613 BUNKERS, 857 AMMUNITION
  DUMPS, 140 ENGINEER VEHICLES, AND 1 NAVAL VESSEL (BUN BOAT).
  FORCE PROTECTION AND HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE ARE CORPS HIGHEST
  PRIORITIES.
          (2)  M) 1AD. DIVISION CONTlIqUES FORCE PROTECTION
  MISSION WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY PROVIDING HUMANITARIAN AID IN
  SECTOR. HAS COMPLETED SCREENING AND EVABUATING U.S. EQUIPMENT
  FROM 100% OF SECTOR AND DESTRUCTION OF ENEMY MATERIAL IN 95% OF
  SECTOR. FOR SAFETY REASONS WE PLAN TO DESTROY THE REMAINING 5%
  AS THE DIVISION DEPARTS. DIVISION CONTINUES TO RECEIVE
  UNCONFIRMED REPORTS OF ATROCITIES DIRECTED AGAINST CIVILIANS AND
 CH-47'S CONTINUE TO HAVE A
  POSITIVE IMPACT ON MOVEMENT OF PERSONNEL AND SPARE PARTS. THE
  ADDITION OF C-130 FLIGHTS WILL FURTHER ENHANCE OUR CAPABILITIES
  TO MOVE CRITICAL MATERIAL FORWARD. DIVISION IS DEFENDING IN
  SECTOR AND IS PREPARING REDEPLOYMENT PLANS INCLUDING BOTH
  WITHDRAWAL FROM SECTOR AND INTERTHEATER MOVEMENT.
          (3)       3AD. DIVISION CONTINUES WITH SECURITY MISSION
  ALONG THE MDL, CLEARING THE SAFWAN AREA OF UNEXPLODED ORDNANCE,
  AND HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS. IN THE   1ST BDE SECTOR, ARCENT
  REPRESENTATIVES MET WITH IRAQI REPRESENTATIVES TO DISCUSS THE
  BOUNDARY DISPUTE VICINITY UM QASR. ALSO IN 1ST@BDE SECTOR, AN
  MBS FROM 4-34 AR CAUGHT FIRE VICINITY SAPWAN AIRFIELD. NO
  INJURIES REPORTED. 3-8 CAV/2ND BDE CONDUCTED TANK GUNNERY     AT
  IRON RANGE (QT 6987). THE CAB CONTINUES AERIAL    SCREEN OPERATIONS
  ALONG THE MDL. CURRENT PLANNING FOCUSES ON THE    DEFENSE OF
  NORTHERN KUWAIT AND CIVIL-MILITARY OPERATIONS.    CONTINGENCY ,Declassiriedon6Augl996per
  PLANNING FOR REDEPLOYMENT TO USAREUR.                           ECA   Y (DAMH) under
          (4)       2ACR. REGIMENT IS CONDUCTING    SCREENING AN

  ALONG HIGH SPEED AVENUES OF APPROACH. REFUGEES    AND EPW'S
  CONTINUE FLOWING INTO SECTOR, ALTHOUGH IT HAS DECREASED
  SUBSTANTIALLY. APPROXIMATELY 500 IRAQI DESERTERS REQUESTED
  TRANSPORTATION TODAY. CHECK POINT OPERATIONS ARE ACCOMPLISHING
