Kessinger, the Engineer Platoon Leader, starts forward with his platoon,

sending his AVLM back, giving him 4 M113s heading towards Ist Platoon. As

he approaches, 2LT Kessinger can see 14 EPWs secured by Ist Platoon. SSG

Mohr, a squad leader, reports more Iraqis in fighting positions to the

front. The engineers form a box with @heir M113s behind the tanks-.and put

the prisoners inside. Once the engineers have control of the EPWS, lst

Platoon and C66 leave to rejoin the formation.

The enginL-ors are alone now with over 60 EPWs approaching from the

front. A boxed-in Iraqi, apparently an officer due to the different style

uniform 'and the green beret, reaches down to his waist and pulls out a 9mm

pistol. With four CAL .50 machine guns pointing at him, the officer puts
the weapon on the ground and starts waiving frantically.-.To 2LT Kessinger,

the Iraqi is@ apparently signalling that they should leave immediately.
