                                        CHARLIE BATTERY

                                        C/4-82FA (155SP)

C Battery is travelling in an octagon shaped formation behind the
Mortar Platoon as TF 4-SCAV conducts a M6vement to Contact east. The M109s
travel on the outside of the formation wit@'ILT Berman, a Platoon Leader,
to the front in a M113 and the Q-36 radar to the rear. Due to the
excellent maintenance supervision conducted by Team Chief SGT Dixon, C
Battery is the, only Battery in the FA Battalion with nine guns

         operational.
On initial contact by the scouts the battery stops. C Battery lays the
guns, digs in, and is ready to fire in 3 to 4 minutes. They receive no

         fire missions.
After C Company destroys the BRDM and ZSU 23-4, the Task Force
Executive Officer, MAJ Irish, and the TF Commander LTC Hallman give the
order to march order the battery and continue to move. C Battery travels
another 500m +or&.iArd before C Company starts calling in multiple hot spots
to their front. This triggers CPT Knott to stop the battery and dig in
-Again. As the battery stops the survey team chief accidentally turns off
the PADS. Ir@ has only 30 seconds to save his current position before the
entire sysfem- 'goes down and he can't remember the procedure. SPC
Fernandez, the survey specialist, saves the data, allowing the battery to
fire with accuracy. As C Battery stops, they can see indirect fire fall
all across the task force front. The 0-36 is quickly erected and detects
two targets. -he data is sent to an MLRS battery and they fire a

         couriterbattery mission.
