Once enemy indirect falls, the friendly indirect fire plan becomes

completely unglued. Instead of being a dedicated battery to TF 4-8CAV as
planned and rehearsed, C Battery musi now take all fire missions from the

FA Battalion. Additionally C Battery loses contact with all the task force

FISTs as they are directed by the FA Battalion to switch to the 4/82FA

         net.

C Battery receives its -First mission -From 4/82FA with incorrect

information. it wrongly states to adjust with DPICM instead of

111LI@ination. It also gives the wrong grid for the observer's position. An

FDC specialist, SPC Perry, quickly catches the mistakes, allowing the FDC

to make corrections and shoot the mission safely. Twenty-seven minutes

after initial contact by the scouts, the first round leaves a C Battery

aun tube. Adjusting with illumination rounds and +iring DPICM for effect,

C Battery fires 46 rounds during three missions. The first mission

directed by the C Company FIST, takes out a likely OP, ending the indirect

         fires of the enemy.

C Ba'ttery continues to dig in, watching as C Company tanks fire to

their front. As darkness falls C Battery conducts an ammunition resupply

and brings forward a water trailer. OPs go out, but no enemy contact is

         .made.

In preparation -For, the night attack, CPT Knott moves forward and

locates the Mortar Platoon. The battery is brought forward in march order

         in expectatiamnf-advancing during the attack.

Prior to--@e. second bound of the night attack DPICM rounds impact

behind the battery, in front of the battery, and in front of the Mortar

Platoon. CPT Knott sends medics forward to check with the FSO track, but a
