forward in the formation, followed by wheeled support vehicles, 2 NBC

Recon Fuchs, and a Psyops Team. The task force is advancing east as the

          advance guard for the brigade.
Intelligence from the previous night leads the TF S-2 to believe that

a mechanized infantry bri gade of the Republican Guards Tawalkana Division,

supported by tanks, is in defensive positions along the brigade a-:is.

The TF S-2, CPT Prokop, counts down the range to the templa@ed enemy

over th6 TF not. As the scouts close within 3km of the expected enemy,

they report their first contact. with the enemy.
The TOC stops with the rest of the task force, 100m from the artillery
battery. Wheeled vehicle personnel start to dig in. SFC Jackson, the

Battalion Master Gunner and TC of H031, watches as the battery digs in and

sets up. He sees D and B Companies move up on line with C Company.
The TF-@-Z- interprets the BRDM and MTLB (later identified as a ZSU
23-4) as .-'4-light screen -Force. Elements of the task force Are well
forward and close together in expectation of continuing the march.
When mortar/artillery fire and RPGs hit along the entire task force

front, SFC Jackson watches as the Brigade TAC races to the rear. On the

left side, an MLRS battery, which minutes before was moving forward, comes

racing back past '-'ie TOC. to stop 600 to 800m to the rear.
