prior to loading for transport.
10. RADIOACTIVE COMMODITIES.
(a) Radioactive materials are used in a variety of Army
supply items and end item components of combat systems to improve
performance and provide capabilities that otherwise may be
,unattainable, Technical bulletin (TB) 43-0116,'Ide'ntification of

(c) At a minimumt commanders must ensure @ha't'all personnel
operating and/or maintaining radioactive commodities are aware of
the potential hazard of low level radiation exposure and possible
contamination of Army materiel that may occur due to battle
damage and/or ongoing end item maintenance. Three conditions
must observed to assure safe use and prevent accidental
contamination:
(1) Ensure that personnel operating or handling rftdioactit-@
commodities are aware that the equipment contains radioactive
materials (items are typically marked with the standard radiation
enta colors).
(2) Equipment must be used in accordance with the directives
and warnings in the operators manual(s).
(3) All Radioactive commodities, when unserviceable, must b .e
processed as radioactive waste.

unseen and is limited to exposure to the unprotected eyes of
individuals within the direct laser beam or a laser beam
reflected form specular surfaces. Serious eye damage with
permanent impairment of vision can result from e%posure to laser

specified in technical manuals. Do not aim laser rangefiriders or
