            THE PURPOSE OF THIS MESSAGE IS TO PROVIDE INSPECTION CRITERIA
         FOR OPERATING THE M25SAl DECONTAMINATION KIT IN A HIGH TEMPERATURE
         ENVIRONMENT.
         7                             KIT WAS TESTED TO THE STORAGE
         1. THE M25SAI DECONTAMINATION
         LIMITATION OF 110 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. SOMETIMES THE GEOGRAPHICAL
         REGION OF OPERATION DESERT SHIELD EXCEEDS THIS AMBIENT TEMPERATURE
         PARAMATER. HENCE, IT HAS BECOME NECESSARY FOR ALL MILITARY COMMANDS
         OPERATING IN THIS REGION TO FOLLOW THE INSPECTION FREQUENCY WHICH

         FOLLOWS: THE M25SAl KIT SHOULD BE INSPECTED IMMEDIATELY AND
         FOLLOWED UP ON REGULAR MONTHLY BASIS FOR SWOLLEN "NUMBER TWO"
         PACKETS, LEAKING PACKETS, OR ONES WHICH HAVE BURST. A SWOLLEN
         NUMBER 2 PACKET IS DEFINED AS ONE WHERE THE GLASS AMPOULE INSIDE
         THE PACKET CANNOT BE FELT BY THE FINGERS HOLDING THE PACKET AND
         APPLYING SLIGHT TO MODERATE PRESSURE.
         4. HEAT ACCELERATES THE CHEMICAL REACTION WHICH CAUSES THE M258Al
         TO SWELL, LEAK AND BURST. "KEEP THE M258AIS OUT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT."
             IF DAMAGED KITS ARE DISCOVERED, DEMILITARIZATION IS NOT REQUIRED
D PACKETS SHOULD BE REMOVED AND RE-
         ASSEMBLED TO FORM COMPLETE KITS (I.E., THREE NUMBER I PACKETS AND
         THREE NUMBER 2 PACKETS SHOULD BE PLACED IN THE REASSEMBLED KIT).
         DURING KIT REASSEMBLY PROCEDURES, UTILIZE PACKETS FROM THE SAME LOT
         NUMBER AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
         6. DEFECTIVE NUMBER 1 AND 2 PACKETS, AND ANY LEFT OVER NUMBER I AND
           PACKETS FROM KIT REASSEMBLY, ARE CONSIDERED HAZARDOUS
