a. Si tltat i Ol) Engineers are now 'fOCLtSil)g on 111SR maintenance
and destruction of Iraqi equipment and Supplies. We are planning
for movement back -to RAAS. 7th Engineer Brigade has operated
equipment in theater or, an extensive basis since the first wee@@
in December 199E$. There has been no let-LkP, operations continue.
Have directed specific maintenance actions in preparation'+or
redeployment. Expect OR rate to initially +All significantly.
It will improve over time. Brigade is currently maintaining over
1500 km of MSRs in Corps sector. Assumption of XVIII Airborne
Corps sector has stressed assets but +eel we are accomplishing
mission. Combat engineer battalions continue demolition m:issioi-),
combat.heavy maintain MSRS. Divisions should utilize organic
engineer assets for work in their sector. We are concerned about
lack of Corps level I(-)gisticA! support forward of I-ocj Base
Nellii, igen. Movement into 'the XVIII Airborne Corps sector
necessitates the need +or Corps level logistical -support (Class
1, III and IX) forward in the Corps sector.

+or return cD+ captured enerriv equipment is confusing. What can we
bring back as far as weapons, irid vehicles tc) LISAREUR?
XVIII Airborne Corps reports cor-,4@-.scat3.nris of weapons at port
(DAMIIIAM) due to @)IVIC requirements and ARCE@',4T' poiicy. Do we need
unit-speci+ic (-)RCENT @pproval in order to avoid confiscation when
our eqLtipment/milvans go through part?
