        SUBJECT: THE FY 1991 Influenza Immunization Prociram



        1. References.

        2. Puroose. This memorandum describes commander's
        responsibilities for Influenza Immunization Proaram- This
        program will be implemented on an area medical support concept
        IAW with the Desert Shield I OPLAN- Influenza 3Ls a to y
        conta inus illness which usuallv strikes in this A    rom
        December throunh March. Prevention of epidemic influenza is
        vital to maintaining personnel readiness durina Operation Desert
        Shield-

        3- Responsibilities-

            a. Corns Survean's Office.

                (1) Have overall responsibility for the FY 1991
        Influenza Immunization Prouram for XVIII Airborne Corps.

                (2) Provide an estimate to the 32nd MEDSOM. Ist COSCOM
        of active dutv militarv and reservists an active duty assigned
        or attached to XVIII Airborne Caros. This estimate is to be
        utilized as a plannina figure in arderinv Influenza Vaccine and

        immunization supolies-


            b. All commanders will:

                (1) Develoo a prouram to immunize their soldiers for
        influenza.

                (2) Be resnonsible  for ensurino that the soldiers under
        their commands are properlv immunized.

                (3) Provide a method to document the soldiers being
        immunized. Documentation will include, Name, Bank, SSN and date
        of vaccination.
