b. Units. Team AF, (veterinary Service,
Headquarters), 320th Med Det, provides Command and Control for
separate Veterinary Service teams, Vet Lab teams, Veterinary
combat support hospital, animal or veterinary general hospital
detachments in any combination.
c. Ma.ior Units. Teams JB, (Veterinary Service, Large)
483rd Med Det and 422nd 4ed Det will provide food wholesomeness,
food hygiene and related guideline assurance inspections in the
EAC AOR. Performs procurement and surveillance food inspections;
and inspects subsistence and food producing animals exposed to
NBC agents. Also performs expedient animal medical service and
treatment for military working dogs.
d. Small Units. Veterinary Teams jA (Veterinary
Service Small) are attached 2 per Corps supported. 248th 4ed Det
and 73rd Med Det attached to 44th 4ed Bde of XVIII ABC and 358th
Med Det and .449th Med Det attached to 332nd Med Bde of 7th Corps.
4. RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. Routine Food Insipection. Performed by units in
Corps area or by Medical Service team (4ST) closest to mission in
the AOR for EAC.
b. (U) Veterinary Support of Military Working Dogs
Service provided on an area basis by the 4ST closest to deployed
dogs.
c. Contaminated Ration Inspection Policy, Policy will
be established by theater veterinarian and implemented by MST's
in areas where suspected NBC contamination has taken place.
d. (U) Policy on AnimEil Victims of Operation Desert
imals might
occur during military maneuvers in conjunction with Operation
Desert Shield. It is imperative that immediate action be taken
and appropriate humane veterinary care be rendered to any and all
injured animals. This care should be provided regardless of
country of origin, availability of owner, or other unforseen
circumstances, where the owner could not provide immediate humane
veterinary medical treatment or justified euthanasia.
