             capability to employ chemical munitions in support of combat
             operations.

                   (3)        Host nation civilian populace does not have the
             capability to defend against NBC attacks.

                C. (U) Attachments and Detachments: ANNEX A (TASK
             ORGANIZATION).

                d.       Assumption: Iraq will employ chemical weapons.

             2.       MISSION. VII (US) Corps conducts operations to defend
             against Iraqi chemical and biological attacks, and continues
             operations as required in a chemical/biological (CB) environment.

             3. (U) EXECUTION.

                a. (U) Concept of the Operation.

                   (1)        Phase 1. VII Corps forces conduct training in
             individual and unit drills to detect/avoid contamination,    and
            .conduct decontamination and smoke operations. Chemical defense
             equipment concerns and shortfalls are identified and resolved.

                   (2)        Phases II through VI. Avoidance,
             protection, and decontamination.

                        (a)       VII Corps conducts operations to detect/
             avoid contamination. NBC reconnaissance operations and reporting
             procedures are integrated and emphasized in all operations.
             Chemical Company NBC Reconnaissance System (NBCRS) (FOX vehicles)
             platoons initial priorities are:

                             L._      Provide information for the Corimander's
             Risk Assessment to include CW verification.

                          2.       Locate uncontaminated routes for troops
             and vehicles.
