ANNEX I (NUCLEAR, BIOLOGICAL, AND CHEMICAL DEFENSE) TO VII (US)
CORPS OPLAN 1990-2 (OPERATION DESERT SABER),

            (U) References: Basic Plan.

            (U) Time Zone Used Throughout the Plan: ZULU.

            (U) Task organization: ANNEX A (TASK ORGANIZATION).

            1. (U) SITUATION.

              a. (U) Enemy Forces: ANNEX C (INTELLIGENCE).

                  (1) Iraq is expected to employ chemical weapons to
gain a tactical advantage as a psychological means to disrupt and
degrade morale. Delivery systems include aircraft, artillery,
and free flight rockets. Available chemical warfare (CW) agents
include Mustard (H), Dusty Mustard, and Nerve Agents (G series
            and possibly V series).

                  (2) Iraq may mix CW with conventional fires and is
known to use more than one chemical agent simultaneously. There
are'three known types of CW tactics Iraq has used in the past:

                      (a) Assault Breaker. Iraq uses this tactic while
retreating from advancing forces. The intent is to disrupt an
enemy attack by forcing attackers to withdraw or get into
            protective gear.

                      (b) Front Line Disruptive. Iraq employs
chemical munitions during preparatory fires against forward C2
nodes, counterbattery, and tank firing positions.
Nonpersistent agents are used so as not to interrupt the tempo of
            Iraqi offensive operations.

                      (c) Rear Area Disruptive. Iraq employs semi-
persistent and persistent chemical weapons against rear area C2
nodes, troop assembly areas and rear support/supply areas. The
intent is to cause maximum confusion in enemy rear areas and
prevent resupply or reinforcement of units engaged on the front.

(U) Friendly Forces: ANNEX A (TASK ORGANIZATION).

                  (1) Host nation military forces have a limited
capability to defe st NBC lftcks. If enemy NBC
