          COMMANDER'.S UPDATE

FROM: CDR, 422nd MED DET (VET SERVICE LARGE)

TO: CDR, 320th MED DET (VET SERVICE LARGE)

          INFO: CDR, ARCENT, STAFF VETERINARIAN

          DTG,. 8 Mar 1991, 1800 ("R" day 7 Mar 1991)

          SERVICE NUMBER:

          1. MAJOR SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES (LAST WEEK)

               1. The GP medium tent from the 320th Med Det (AF) was set
up at the 410th Evac Hospital where MST III is located. One
GP small tent was returned to KKMC and the other is still
being used at MST III location.

               2. The Host Nation Warehouse (HNW) at Hafr Al Batin is
beginning to slow down as troops move retrograde. SPC
Bohannon has not returned from medical evacuation as
               anticipated. Therefore no additional,personnel were
assigned to HNW at Hafr Al Batin.

               3. The EPW camps continue to fill faster than they empty
(23,000 now) and constitute a disaster waiting to happen.
CPT Sutton has visited both camps on a daily basis and COL
Wesson has visited both camps three times this past week.
SPC Anderson returned from emergency leave 8 Mar 1991 and,
along with MAJ Harris will move to co-locate with MST III
and take over operations at the EPW camps with SPC Kidwell.

               4. operations have begun to slow at locations on KKMC and
Log Base Bravo. LB Bravo has refrigeration facilities
operating, but the operation on unitizing MORES is slowing
down. SPC Hansen in currently located at HNW/KKMC with SPC
Crawford. CPT Montgomery conducted a sanitary inspection
               this week at HNW/KKMC.

               S. Operations at the 1012th GSU, where the 888th Med Det is
operating, have slowed down also. Retrograde MRE shipments
ing water shipments have
continued unabated as if both corps were still located in
this area. Hopefully these shipments will also decrease
               soon.

               6. vehicle #9 was picked up from the 190th Trans on Monday.
It will be returned for additional repairs 9 Mar 1991
because the transmission locks up and will not go into 2nd
               gear.

               7. vehicle #3 has had the glow plugs cleaned and is
               operational.
