               SUBJECT: Doctrinal Employment of NBC Protective Covers (NBC-PC)

               cover for HOPP gear 6xohange operations in a contaminated environment, as well
               as ground and overhead cover at the entryway to collective protection shel-
               ters.

                   b. The NBC-PC is issued to, used by, and maintained by combatt combat
               supportt and combat service support units in all geographic operational areas
               of interest to include land combat and amphibious landings/assault opera-
               tions. Each section of the NBC-PC may be emplaced by two soldiers and either
               tied down on each corner with standard 3/8th inch line or ereoted on poles
               from the camouflage support system or tent.
                  a. Adding additional covers will increase protection time by a factor of
               24 hours. In other wordst one cover equals 24 hours of protection two covers
               over the same item equals 48 hours, three covers equals 72 hours, etc.
                  d. After a chemical or suspected biological attack or after the
               completion of fallout, check the NBC-PC to determine whether or not it is
               contaminated. If the NBC-PC is contaminated, remove the cover within 24
               hourst bury the cover and mark the burial site as a contaminated waste siteg
               and recover the equipment or supplies with a fresh protective cover.
