SUBJECT: Desert Storm After Action Report
9. Engineer Interface:
This unit provided instructional classes on landmines to
Engineer units prior to the start of the ground offensive. The
engineers we interfaced with had a healthy respect for landmines
and ordnance. During the ground offensive and setting up
operations in Iraq the engineers blew up ASPs sending ammunition
into US camps. We were called on these incidents to neutralize
the hazard produced by our own engineers.
10. The EOD mission during Operation Desert Storm could be
improved with better coordination between EOD units, Controls,
and Group. The coordination should include what is expected of
the units and what can be expected of the higher headquarters.
The interface between Corps and Divisions should be strengthened
by participating in NTC rotations, Field Training, Deployments,
and Exercises.
