SUBJECT: After Actions Review: Desert Shield/Stom

                   jPk= c3upport

                 (1) The constant turnover @ assigned --UPPOrt units, both
Supply and maintenance, was a problem. On the average, it was
necessary to rebuild the support channels every two weeks .
                 (2) We were allowed to use 3 small buildings in very bad
condition. Our tentage was used as additional space.
(!3) Our generators were used only as backup power and in
        these cases they were adequate.

                 EUD Tools

                 (1) We found the Mi@2 to be the most valuable tool.
Especially in Kuwait City, it allowed absolute control over the
        detonations in populated areas.
                 (2) Thp .50 caliber dearmer was also used and is a
        reliable tool.
                 (3) The Robot could not be kept operational. It was only
used For Host NAtion Statir Displays.
                 (4) The SEE vehicle proved invaluable as trade and
barter. A few hours of usage would help us to acquire additional
support. However, it does require much labor intensive maintenance
and a trained operator. It was not used to support any POD
        operations.

            9- Rifle Disruption

                 41) We conducted no rifle disruptions.
<@) We believe more training with the lessons learned are
        necessary.

            h. Mission Support

                 (1) Our unit was located at the Port of Dammam, with a Z>
man team detached to Kuwait City. Due to the constant changeover
o4 rear area support units, frequent physical contact was
        necessary.
                 (2) The EOD structure worked well for us, but incidents
would still filter to us outside the "normal" channels. The 542d
in the ARCENT RAOC was a definite success.
(@) Most of our work consisted of transportation anti
handling accidents, suspected IED'S, and, later, the Part and Unit
        Amnc-5ty programs.
