4. (U) TITLE: NBC - MSAL CHEMICAL ALARM BATTERIES
5. (U) OBSERVATION: Our battalion only had a limited supply of
M8AI batteries to operate the alarms on a 24 hour basis.
6. (U) DISCUSSION: MSAL alarm batteries were only good for
30-32 hours in the desert environment compared to its normal 72
hours. There was also a shortage of batteries in country.
7 (U) LESSON LEARNED: Our unit was only able to operate our
b@tteries from dusk to dawn, so we wouldn't run out. We did not
receive additional batteries until after the ground war.
8. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Theater supply must increase
stockage levels for M8AI alarm batteries in a desert
environment.
9. (U) COMMENT: None.
