                 2. (U) Operation DESERT SHIELD conducted by USCENTCOM on 02/06/91.

                 4. (U) TITLE: LOGISTICS: BULK DRAW OF CDE CLASS VIII NBC ITEMS


                 5. (U) OBSERVATION: Bulk Draw of chemical ensembles and nerve
                 agent antidote with pretreatment PM for the RC units occurred
                 with little difficulty.

                 6. (U) DISCUSSION: (a) At the time of joint inventory of unit
                 NBC equipment, Post Chemical representative computed number of
                 MARK I NAAK (3/person) and PB tablets (2 blister packs/person)
                 required for the unit. NBC representative would issue a
                 memorandum with unit document number which authorized pickup of
                 NAAK and PB from MEDDAC in proper number.

                      (b) NBC representative also hand receipted 1 or 2 BDO
                 sizing sets to the unit. The unit then sized its troops,
                 recording size BDO, size glove and chemical overboot. Data was
                 Jointly posted to preprinted DA 3161, initialed in red by NBC
                 representative, and used for the bulk draw at CIF.
                      The CDE warehouse had no X-smalls, few smalls, a
                 preponderance of mediums, and some large. hence, mediums were
                 substituted +or other sizes.

                 warehouse along w/2 skin decon kits, gloves, SVOs/chemical
                 boots, and helmet cover (alias "shower cap") su-Ffcient to
                 complete the first ensemble set but not the second.

                 7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: The newly established procedures for
                 bulk draws of CDE CLASS VII items worked well.
