          3. (U) KEYWORDS: None.

          4. (U) TITLE: New Equipment Fielding
          5. (U) OBSERVATION: During operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm
          ARCENT was requested to field NBC systems on an accelerated
          basis.

          6. (U) DISCUSSION: Several NBC systems, to include the M40
          Protective Mask, ANBACIS I and II, XM 221 Remote Sensing
          Chemical Agent Alarm, Chemical Agent Monitor, Mask Fit
          Validation Device, and NBC Reconnaisannce Vehicle were fielded
          or proposed for fielding.
          7. (U) LESSONS LEARNED: Due to the requirements placed on a unit
          when a new piece of equipment is fielded, care must be exercised
          to field only those mature systems that are fully supportable,
          reliable, and beneficial to the gaining unit.
          8. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: After determining which new systems-
          are of interest to the deployed Army, AMC should present an
          abbreviated Material Fielding Plan tailored to the area of
          operations.
