             SUBJECT: Meritorious Unit Commendation



             1. Request consideration for award of the Meritorious Unit Commendation to
             the 47th Combat Support Hospital for its exceptionally meritorious conduct
             during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm from 12 October 1990 through
             10 April 1991.

                 In accordance with Army Regulation 672-5-1, the following information is
             l,rovided in support of this request for award of the Meritorious Unit
             Co-.-@mendation:


                a. List of tasks performed during the period:
                   Established and maintained a MUST@hospital with no maintenance problems.
                   Converted to DEPMEDS hospital while:bperating the MUST hospital-continuous
                medical care- only unit to accomplish this.
                   Designed a light, mobile, surgical intensive facility to support the ground
                campaign.
                   Trained on the li-ht package to facilitate rapid movement and Set-up.
                   Travelled cross desert with the 24th Infantry Division into Iraq.
                   Set-up and received patients well within the projected or expected time.

                e. Any other pertinent information:  The 47th performed with less than 80%
                staffing, yet achieved all goals and exceeded many expectations.
