              1. BA3517 Batteries for        MBAI              Agent Alarm. The
              operating life of BA3517       batteri2-5: seems to be shortened by
              the high desert temperatures. New                       are being
              brought into country.       These battt..:       have a new EivIF
              generation chemistry and operator           '--i.iiies are expected to
              increase.

              2. Nerve    Agent Antidote aod.Preti-L,@m.-tqient drug interactions
              or adverse effects. Recent                     to the Army Surgeon
              General's Office have indicated c(:)i)@:ei-ns as to whether
              soldie@s on medications fo                    f-@c.@dical problems (such
              as High blood pressure or ronchi,:i'@ asthma) /4ould be at undue
              risk of complications if n@rve aaei-ill- iretreatments,or
              anti dotes were administered on tcie, Li-,-ittlefield.
                  a.. In the case of ner@e ac3en,.-                   administration
              (which would only be admin,sterec,' '@L@!-ing the treatment of
              nerve agent symptoms either by se!-F. buddy, or further
              treatment), the benefits a@sc)c:ia-L(-,..! %sj.th the antidote far
              outweigh any adverse effects that              be encountered.

                  b. Also, the Surgeon Genei-al'@-. o-@+:      .Lr-e assesses the
              likelihood of mission disruptive r,, '@@i.fe-threatening side
              effects due to pyridostigm[ne broffi.@,-Ie (PB) pretreatment at
              the dosages prescribed (i.e. I tabi.c:,t every 8 hours) to be
              extremely low and not militarily significant.

              3. Units will retain all Anserviceable M24/            M25 series
              protective masks. There iF* cLtrre@tl\, no M24/M25 masks
              stocked in the divi,sion anO the              L\,:;ll not acc6pt the
              unserviceable masks.       The 024/1'125         are on requisition
              and should be received sho tly. '@'rsterviceable M17 series
              protective masks will be turned lAi@, @.,-ocedures provided in
              NBC update 90-9-2.
