          SUBJECT: Unit and Staff Responsibilities in Preparation +or Winter
                           Operations.

          1. References-


                a. Memorandum, HO 24th ID (M), AFZP-OT-DREAR, 12 Oct 90,
          subject: "Winter in the Desert".


                b. Memorandum, HO 24th ID (M), AFZP-GL, 9 Oct 90, subject:
          Cold Weather Equipment Requirements +or Operation Desert Shield.

          2. Purpose. This memorandum defines unit and staff
          responsibilities in preparing the 24th ID (M) +or winter tactical
          operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Tas+,ings are based on
          the "Winter in the Desert" Wort.-.shop conducted on 11 Oct 90.

          3. Unit Responsibilities.

                a. MSC, Separate Battalion, and Separate Company Commanders.

                        (1)    Conduct inventories of individual CTA 50-90 +or cold
          weather items outlined in reference a.                           Submit requisitions for
          replacement items through ACO+S, G4.

                        (2)    Determine requirements for                  organizational equipment IAW
          refer(.-@@n(::e a. & b and submit requisitions                   through ACO+S, G4.

                        (:@@)  Initiate actions to ensure                  that adequate stoc@@s of
          Class IX repair parts as Outlined in reference a are on hand by
          Nc-lv 90.
