SUBJECT: Nerve Agent Pyridastigmine Pretreatment Tablet Sets (NAPP)
CPB Tablets)
1. Purpose. To provide the command guidance on the distribution, use, and
effects of pyridostigmine bromine pretreatment.
2. Issue of NAPP.
A) Part of each unit's contingency stockages is a 3161 order form kept on
file with DMSO requesting a 2-weel, supply of NAPPs for each soldier plus
percent overage.
D) The 3161s are inspected and verified during each EDRE and during
CIPS.
C) All units picked up their NAPPs IAW the EDRE N-hour sequence.
D) NAPPs have been issued down to the medical platoon level. In the
case of three hundred soldiers, NAPPs were issued to the soldier level.
2. Use of NAPP.
A) NAPP is NOT effective alone.
8) NAPP enhances the survivability of nerve agent casualities when used
in conjunction with the MARK 1.
C) NAPP MUST be taken within 8 hours prior to nerve agent exposure to be
effective.
D) To be maximally effective I PP tablet should be taken every 8 hours
on a continuous basis prior to nerve agent exposure.
CORPS Commander's Gutidance.
A) The CORPS commander has reserved the right to determine when soldiers
should begin to take PB tablets.
B) Soldiers should be issued a two week supply of NAPPs prior to
deployment.
C) Optimal time for distribution is whenever the command chosses to
hand-out the individual chemical protective garment.
D) Resupply stocks and reorder cards need to prepared so that demand for
items will ensure sustainment quantities.
