Rear party guards supplies at Cement City. Planning begins
to form the new provisional unit using available assets.
30 September - Rear party moves from Cement City to the
Dammam docks. Mileage total is for commercial tractor
trailers which are to be brought under the control of
the Bn.

1 October - 385 troops conduct NBC Training. Bn strength:
45 soldiers. Assets available: 50 HETS.
2 October - 385 moves to Compound 4, Dammam port. Unit is
advised to avoid late night trips due to threat of terrorist
attack. Bn S3, CPT Bryant, and Xo, MAJ Kern, travel to
Jubayl to plan clearance of 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment
(ACR) from that port.
3 October - Element of Bn troops under ILT Griffin moves to
Jubayl to support movement of 3 ACR.
4 October - Bn directed to plan for movement of an armored
brigade task force. Weather hot, humid. Full moon.
5 October - Bn Xo meets with ACS Trans, LTC Kenneally on 3
ACR movement requirements. Delay continues on 150 HET
contract. Contract requires heavy tie down chains for
transporting armored vehicles.
6 October - Current payment for commercial HETS: 1968.75
Saudi Rials (SR) per day. SGM of the Army Gates visits the
7th Trans Group. Bn NCOs attend a talk given by him.
7 October - Units are being directed to maintain a fifteen
(15) day basic load of all classes of suppiv. Red Cross
message passed to admitted to 5th
Fleet Hospital, Jubayl. Many others sick. 5 USC 552(b)(6)
8 October - New billets aboard barge are inspected. The
barge is a housing barge rented from the oil industry.
9 October - Troops directed not to discard envelopes without
marking out addresses. There have already been instances of
"hate mail" being received by family members. The Army is
trying to prevent letter bombs being mailed to family
members, soldiers and units.
