10 October - Reports of surveillance by possible terrorist
           groups result in increased security.

11 October - The timely return of drivers dispatched on
convoys continues to be a problem. Contractor is not meeting
fifty (50) HET per day requirement.

12 October - Twenty five (25) IIETs will be taken from Jubayl
to support clearance of Ist Cavalry Division from Ad Dammam.
3 ACR XO, LTC Du Bravac, is not pleased.

13 October - Bn continues to clear tanks and other armored
vehicles from Jubayl and Dammam. S2 reports that many
people were killed attempting to leave Kuwait after the media
           broadcasts reported escape routes.

14 October - Tank moves continue. Weather remains hot and
           humid.

15 October - 355 Trans Det deploys via military airlift from
McCord AFB, Washington. First nail from home received. Bn
           strength: 45 soldiers. Assets available:

                            TYPE CONTRACT NUMBER
                            ASSET AUTHORITY ON HAND

16 October - Still moving tanks. American soldiers and
drivers from third world countries communicate in sign
language, and a smattering of English and Arabic words.
           Somehow it works.

17 October - 355 Trans Det arrives at King Abdul Aziz RSAF
Air Base, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. HHD Cdr, ILT Strong, visits
Bn troops deployed at Jubayl. Armored units of the British
Army of the Rhine are observed landing in Jubayl. Very
professional troops, their insignia is a rat. The Desert
Rats have arrived. Where are the Germans?

18 October - First clouds noted since deployment. Weather
remains hot and humid, but had moderated somewhat. 3 ACR has
been cleared from the Port of Jubayl. This is the regiment
to whom General Winfield Scott said during the Mexican War,
"Brave Rifles, you have been baptized in fire and in blood,
and come out steel." They are a fine regiment. What new
chapters in their history will be written now? Bn troops
return from Jubayl to Dammam to support movement of
           I Cav Div. No moon.
