25 November - 702 FRAGO 01-90; Mission: Commit lowbed assets
to move Class V throughout the theatre.
702 FRAGO 02-90; Mission: Deploy Bn task force to Jubayl to
support onward movement of deploying forces.
Bn Cdr briefed Gp Cdr, COL Brown, on Bn training program.
Twenty (20) flats deployed in support of 10th Trans Bn, Al
Jubayl, being held by that unit. Bn S3 requested their
return, and the unit released them. Information received by
Bn S2, ILT Blake, is that Mle will not return to the port.
Does this mean that they will be used as a theater reserve?
Bn S2 and S3 visit Corps Rear Area Operations Center.
Receive operations briefing, and assistance in obtaining area
studies.
26 November - 702 FRAGO 03-90; Mission: Support exchange of
Ml for MlAl Abrams tanks.
Flats from Jubayl slow coming in. Adverse impacts on other
ammunition moves. SUPCOM Cdr, MG Pagonis, met with all
SUPCOM officers at RSAF King Abdul Asiz Air Base, Dhahran.
Message: Be prepared for war should it come. We have moved
farther and faster from a standing start than any army in
history. in the next few weeks we will do even more.
Everyone must be prepared to do much with very little.
Improvise! Make it happen! We will.
27 November - Bn Cdr briefed SUPCOM Cdr on the Bn's training.
As a provisional unit commander MG Pagonis was appreciative
of the problems involved in commanding a provisional unit.
Bn assets have logged well over 2 million miles in over
10,000 trips averaging 200 miles per trip since 27 August
1990. These are miles, not kilometers, but miles. We are
moving!
28 November - Although female troops are regularly driving
military vehicles. They are forbidden to drive rented
civilian vehicles, even if in uniform, due to conflicts with
Saudi Arabian law. By their presence here, they have shaken
this society to its very foundations.
29 November - Since 17 August 1990, 173 ships have been off-
loaded in support of Operation Desert Shield. Over the next
30 days, 172 ships will arrive in Saudi Arabia.
30 November - Advanced party under ILT Coates departs for
Jubayl to support clearance of VII Corps units from that
port. increased average miles traveled per week is due to
the movement of ammunition to the USAF Base at Al Kharj.
