27 February - Bn continues movement of ammunition (Class V)
forward as coalition armored forces annihilate Iraqi
formations. Kuwaiti forces retake Kuwait City. Bn troops in
Dammam move off the barge to Batar compound as the barge is
readied for movement north. Operations in Jubayl is directed
to begin planning to move Enemy Prisoners of War (EPW) on
flatbed trucks. The thought is to cut holes in cargo
containers and mount them as makeshift troop carriers on
flatbeds. Remarks to the press by the ARCENT commander
praise the efforts of logistics and transportation units.
General Schwarzkopf noted the work of units using leased
commercial vehicles, and host nation civilian drivers.
Thirty eight (38) out of 42 Iraqi divisions in the Kuwait
Theater of Operations (KTO) have been destroyed by our
          forces.

28 February - President Bush orders a cessation of offensive
action by coalition forces effective 08:00 local time, one
hundred hours after the start of the ground offensive phase
of Operation Desert Storm. Allied armored forces stand by,
and watch Iraqi armor retreating along the road to Basra in
northeastern Iraq. Enemy units in Kuwait are given a choice,
abandon your equipment and walk north, or die. Surrounded,
without food or water, most choose to walk. Those who fight
are killed. Intelligence estimates that 40 1/2 of 42 Iraqi
divisions have been destroyed. The allies hold over 80,000
EPWS, and are capturing more all the time. Bn is directed to
stop movement of Class V forward. Mission shifts for the
time being to movement of ammunition for the Air Force. No
drivers went on sick call today. Full moon.
