          Batin cause sirens to go off in the early AM. Bn Cdr meets
          with company cdrs in Dammam. President Bush gives notice
          that Iraq must begin unconditional withdrawal from Kuwait by
          noon Saturday, 23 February 1991, Washington, D.C. time.

          23 February - A day of waiting.

          24 February - G-Day. Ground offensive starts at 04:00. Scud
          launch at 04:45. Units move forward against light
          resistance. First day objectives are achieved hours ahead of
          schedule. Coalition Forces report the surrender of thousands
          of Iraqi troops as armored and air assault forces move to
          contact with Republican Guard Force Corps (RGFC) units.

          7 GP FRAGO 29-91; Mission: Conduct EPW extraction support.

          Bn commits the 1404th Trans Co to support the Enemy Prisoner
          of War (EPW) mission of the 800th MP Group. The company is
          also to be prepared to support humanitarian relief efforts in
          Kuwait. The 1404th will be OPCON to the 7th Group (Forward)
          at KKMC, but will remain at Log Base Alpha. Military drivers
          to carry at least 60 rounds each. Bn Cdr direct that Host
          Nation drivers not travel north of Log Base Alpha. This is
          because the civilian drivers are not trained to operate in
          forward areas. Troops report possible jamming of radios.
          Intelligence reports that 7 enemy infantry divisions attacked
          by the allies are now combat ineffective; dead, prisoners or
          scattered.

          25 February - 7 GP FRAGO 30-91; Mission: Relocate one
          platoon (-) to vicinity of Log Base Delta, perform Class V
          clearance at TSA 5, then relocate OPCON to 180 Trans Bn to
          perform line haul support for clearance of Log Base Bravo.

          Iraqi Scud missile strikes a barracks in Dhahran. Twenty
          eight (28) soldiers of the 475th QM Group are killed, and
          98 wounded. Many may not survive. Bn begins moving
          preferred ammunition, 120 mm tank main gun ammunition from
          TSA 5. 1404 Trans Co picks up from the 32 Trans Group 45
          commercial 5 ton cargo trucks, and seventeen 17 commercial
          flatbed trucks to add to the 5 they already have on hand.
          The unit receives taskings to move EPWS. Approximately
          50,000 EPWs are expected.

          26 February - 702 FRAGO 10-91; Mission: 1404 Trans Co will
          support extraction of EPWs from the battle area.

          702 FRAGO 11-91; Mission: Relocate platoon (-) to Log Base
          Delta. Platoon will be OPCON to 180 Trans Bn for movement of
          Class 1, V and IX to forward log bases. (NOTE: FRAGO was
          published after the fact to document actions already taken,
          and ensure clearly defined mission responsibilities.)
          Priority to movement of ammunition.
