           flatbed trucks.

16 June - Routine operations. HET and lowboys assigned to
the 1103 Trans Bn are turned over to the 702 Trans Bn.

17 June - Bn run. Humidity is terrible. Run is cut short to
3 rather than the usual 6 miles as a precaution against heat
           stroke. Cmd and staff meeting.

18 June - Military air flow worldwide is backed up by the
need to commit assets to support the evacuation of dependents
from Clark AFB and Subic Bay Naval Base. This is due to the
explosion of a volcano. Air flow problems slow returns of
           personnel from leave.

19 June - Bn will not receive replacement personnel for the
1103rd Trans Bn. Bn will sponsor the replacement unit which
will assume the HET and LB mission. Possibly A and D
Companies will be transferred. The new battalion structure
will have three truck companies and an HIID. Mission will be
the control of flatbed trucks. Priority of mvt to Class V.
Both Bn will fall under a provisional truck group the
"711th". We never close? The proposed unit designation
comes from the unit numbers of the 702nd and the 1103rd.

20 June - Saudi troops stop American service women from
driving non-tactical civilian 4 x 4 vehicles off the port.
Law and order is being reestablished. US women are still
permitted to drive military vehicles in uniform. Just their
presence here is'a force for change. Broken down vehicles
           require recovery.

21 June - The advance party of the 7 Trans Group, LTC
Chalkley, the 180 Trans Bn, LTC Jones, Active Component, Fort
Hood Texas, and the 1103 Trans Bn, Alabama Army National
Guard depart for their home stations. Glad as we are to see
them go home, it is sad to see so many good friends leave.
At the Group's staff meeting that morning, the Bn XO notes
the affection and good humor of the assembled commanders and
staff. They and their units have done a good job and they
know it. For a moment all the squabbles and hardships of the
past are forgotten. There is a sense of brotherhood, and
comradeship among those who have served so well.

22 June - 513 Trans Co (WCPBAA), CPT Bradford, is reassigned
from the 180 Trans Bn to the Bn for administrative command
and control. The 513th is an Active Component unit from Fort
Lewis Washington. The company is cleaning it's equipment in
preparation for return to CONUS. The unit's M915 tractors
and 14872 trailers have been ridden hard and put up wet
throughout the war. Emphasis is upon getting their
maintenance up to standard before return to home station.
The troops are working hard. Several tractors are in the
process of having their engines replaced.
