            8 July - Bn run. Weekly cmd and staff mtg. Refusal of Iraq
           to cooperate with UN monitoring teams attempting to inspect
           nuclear facilities raises concerns for peace.

            9 July - A Co change of cmd. CPT Bryant relinquishes cmd to
           CPT Thompson. MAJ Laney is assigned to the Bn.

           10 July - []HD change of cmd. lLT Strong relinquishes cmd to
           ILT Cross. ILT Cross will also assume ILT Strong's duties as
           the Bn S4.

           11 July - Saudi Police report apprehending the alleged
           murderer while he was attempting to cross the border into
           Kuwait near Kafji. Bn Cdr presents Bn's plan for support of
           ammunition retrograde to supported units. The ammunition
           supply point (ASP) at Doha, Kuwait is reported to be on fire.
           The Bn is alerted to prepare to move replacement ammunition,
           and vehicles to Doha in support of the 11 ACR.

           12 July - 702 FRAGO 14-91; Mission: On order conduct
           recovery and replacement of 11 ACR assets in Doha, Kuwait.
           Companies will transport replacement equipment from KKMC &
           Dammam.

           Bn dispatches TIET, LB and FB trucks to KKMC to be in position
           to support movement of replacement vehicles and ammunition to
           Doha. Troops are directed to carry protective masks due to
           possible Alpha particle contamination from depleted uranium
           rounds which exploded in the accident area. Lost in the
           incident are 6 MIAI, 8 M109, 8 FAASV, ammunition and wheeled
           vehicles. The fire apparently occurred due to an electrical
           short in a FAASV. A number of persons have been injured,
           some seriously. Presence of unexploded ordinance at the
           accident scene is delaying recovery.

           13 July - Loading at KKMC is delayed by shortage of
           experienced tracked vehicle operators. Smoke in Dammam from
           oil well fires in Kuwait.

           14 July - Day starts with a trash fire in the HET motor park.
           Extinguished by the Dammam Fire Department. Priority of
           movement today is to get FAASV, and replacement ammunition to
           Kuwait to restore combat power of 11 ACR. MAJ Laney, CW2
           Harville, and MAJ Brown, S3 1103 Trans Bn, look at possible
           sites for the new 1103rd motor park. SGT Charleston and PF(.'
           Raymond handle operations every night coordinating support of
           Kuwait mission. Smoke from Kuwait dims bright sunshine. US
           and French presidents express concern over continued Iraqi
           noncompliance with UN resolution in rather terse terms.

           15 July - Cmd and staff mtg. MAJ Laney replaces t4AJ Kern,
           who is redeploying, as the Bn XO. Flatbed tractor catches
