SUBJECT: A-Ration Update
1. Purpose. To provide update information on the status of
food support provided by the Host Nation Support (HNS) food
contractor.
2. Facts.
a. Host Nation Support (HNS) food contractor, Mr. Masri
has appointed Mr. Faza, a subcontractor to handle the victory
Division's A-ration needs.
b. Mr. Faza will deliver rations to the MSB/FSBs from
his Al Khobar based warehouses. Additional warehouses are
being renovated in Nuiriya area with an estimated completion
date of 10 January 91.
c. The following services will be provided:
(1) An A-ration dinner meal every other day begin-
ning 28 Dec 90 from items listed in the 10 day ARCENT menu.
Meals will be issued 2 days at a time with the first issue on
27 Dec 90. Daily A-ration dinner meals have been tentatively
scheduled beginning 3 Jan 91.
(2) Mr. Faza will deliver supplements with A-ration
breaks to support 3 meals per day. Supplements consist of a
commercial pastry, individual fruit juices, assorted fruits,
individual UHT milks, sliced bread, and regular or diet
sodas.
(3) Special short order meals. Unit requests must
arrive NLT seven days prior to date of required support.
Food support will be limited to battalions, separate
companies and large detachments such as Division MAIN and
Division TAC. Meals cannot be ordered more than once a
month. Rations will be delivered to supporting MSS/FSBs.
(4) Warming beverages consisting of soup, coffee,
cocoa or hot chocolate, and teabags will be delivered to the
MSB/FSBs weekly beginning 30 Dec 90. Quantity of issue will
be based on present for duty strength. Enough will be prov-
ided for one beverage per meal per day.
(5) A seven to ten day supply of flat/plastic ware
will be bulk issued to the MSB/FSBs weekly to support the A-
ration meals.
