        SUBJECT: Quick Look (90DSOOIZ7)


        1. The Inspector General   conducted a "Quial, Look" Inspection of
                     -N
        Class,IX"12 ov     12 Dec 90. The flow of request, status and
        parts was the focus Of the inspection.

        2. METHODOLOGY: Ten sample units' requisitions and status +low
        were monitored for 17 days. 'Unit records were compared with DSU
        and DMMC records. The +low.of parts from the Division Main ASL
        to the unit was sampled.

            b.- The Class IX requisition process begins with the
        identification of a needed repair part by the using unit. The
        PLL/TAMMS Clerk receives the information -From various sources and
        eithe r inputs it into the ULLS II (Unit Lev el Logistics System)
        -which generates an automated requisition or prepares a manual
        Requisition' if not automated. The part is issued from unit
        stocks if -Ehe part is available at the unit. Parts not available
        in the unit are requested through the Direct Support Unit (DSU)
        eithe@r by Transaction on diskettes, computer generated paper
        requisitions or manually prepared request -Forms.   The unit
        inter-Faces with the Standard Army Retail Supply-System (SARSS)
        used by the DSU to facilitate transactions and stock control.     if'
